    Position Title: Bookkeeper
    Organization: Community Life Collaborative (CLC)
    Location: Chagrin Falls, Ohio
    About Community Life Collaborative (CLC): Community Life Collaborative (CLC) is a small
    environmental justice nonprofit organization based in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Established in 2020,
    CLC is a nonprofit 501c3 dedicated to mobilizing community awareness, allyship, and advocacy
    around environmental and social justice issues. Our mission is to connect individuals and
    organizations through partnerships that promote social insight projects and strengthen
    relationships, fostering collective impact. We achieve this by presenting forums and programs
    designed to engage, empower, and transform our community. The CLC manages the Federated
    Church's Family Life Center 40-acre property. The main building is 20,000 square feet with a
    commercial kitchen, a gymnasium, offices and classrooms.
    Job Description: We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced bookkeeper to join our team.
    The bookkeeper will be responsible for managing all financial transactions, including tracking accounts
    payable and receivable, maintaining accurate ledgers, reconciling bank statements, and assisting with
    month-end and year-end closings. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting
    principles, a solid working knowledge of bookkeeping software, and a keen eye for detail.

    Responsibilities:
    o Maintain financial records: Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and
    in a timely manner.
    o Prepare and update ledgers: Maintain general ledger and subsidiary ledgers (accounts
    payable, accounts receivable, payroll, etc.).
    o Post journal entries: Record business transactions, including purchases, sales, and
    receipts.
    o Reconcile accounts: Reconcile bank statements with company records to ensure
    consistency.
    o Accounts Payable: Process and track payments to vendors, ensuring timely payments and
    accurate documentation
    o Accounts Receivable: Process incoming payments, track customer accounts, and follow
    up on overdue invoices.
    o Prepare and send invoices: Issue invoices to clients/customers and ensure timely
    collection.
    o Process payroll: Submit payments to employees, ensuring that payroll taxes and benefits
    are accounted for.
    o Generate financial statements: Prepare monthly, quarterly, or annual financial
    statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements).
    o Assist with audits: Provide documentation and support for internal or external auditors
    as needed.
    o Ensure tax compliance: Stay up-to-date on tax regulations and compliance to avoid
    penalties.
    o Reconcile bank accounts: Ensure that all bank transactions are accurately reflected in the
    company’s accounting system.
    o Reconcile credit card statements: Verify and reconcile company credit card transactions
    with financial records.
    o Maintain filing systems: Organize and maintain both physical and electronic files for easy
    access to financial data.
    o Utilize accounting software: Proficiently use accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) for
    managing and tracking finances.
    o Maintain software updates: Ensure accounting software is up to date and troubleshoot
    any issues with the software.

    Qualifications:
    • Education: Associate’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (Bachelor’s degree
    preferred).
    • Experience: At least 2-3 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
    • Skills:
    o Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
    o Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
    o Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
    o High attention to detail and accuracy.
    o Ability to handle sensitive financial information confidentially.
    o Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot discrepancies.
    • Basic understanding of payroll systems and tax filings (state and federal).
